Director of the Student Success Center

FUNCTION

The Director of the Student Success Center will be responsible for providing and coordinating group and individual tutoring in math, writing and other subject areas; planning and conducting workshops on time management, study skills and test-taking; maintaining computerized support materials; and hiring, training and scheduling of peer tutors.  He or she will oversee the tutoring budget by monitoring expenditures and making projections of budgetary needs.  The director will gather data, create reports and assist with special projects as needed.  The successful candidate will work closely with students, faculty and staff in promoting student success.

 

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Oversee the daily activities of the tutoring center

· Provide training to peer tutors

· Create tutoring schedules for each semester

· Provide individual and group tutoring

· Oversee the screening and hiring of peer tutors

· Manage the tutoring budget, including tracking of expenditures, creation of reports and              

  projections of future budgetary needs

· Oversee computerized support materials/assisted learning software for tutoring services

· Work with several student and academic service areas to maximize retention efforts

· Other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

 

QUALIFICATIONS

A master’s degree is required and a minimum of two academic calendar years of teaching and/or tutoring experience. (Preference will be given to candidates with academic credentials in math and/or science.)

·Demonstrated knowledge of computer skills and ability to stay up-to-date with technology     

 developments and make relevant changes to delivery of services as needed

·Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

·Ability to work effectively and professionally with administrators, faculty, staff and students
